Dan Benson and Ryan Pfiel need to take a course in photo Journalism, as the majority of shots were overhead shots of the subjects by a mile high. To be completely honest there were a few, mind you a few good shots when people were being interviewed, but not very many. From a Directors POV the film needs more work as three years was not enough. Two more years and you may have something to be proud of that the general public may buy, but in the state it is in now. From a director’s POV it needs even more improvement and it shows. Three years plus two more years may help improve it. But I doubt it Dan Benson and the editing was lacking as well.
The entire film moved slowly as the pacing was way to slow. IMO. There was more time spent in the 30’s, 40’s than for the 50’s on it got shorter and shorter from the 60’s to the 2000-11. There was not enough material for the 50’s-2011. Time for a rewrite or get more updates on the years that were lacking. Otherwise it was somewhat entertaining I sure would not pay $15.00 for a DVD. It was bad enough I was charged $4.00 for a movie that was worth $1.00 admission, if that. Sorry but I see it and call it as I see it. Better luck next time or go back to work and work it again. IMO the only one’s that might be interested in buying a copy are those that went to KUHS. No body else will buy it. Better luck next time.

Wow - just wow.
ReplyDeleteYour review of the film starts out with a personal attack. "Dan Benson and Ryan Pfiel need to take a course in photo Journalism." You end your first paragraph with another personal attack:"But I doubt it Dan Benson and the editing was lacking as well."
I didn't see the film. Although it might be as bad as you say, your review appears to be more about Dan Benson and Ryan Pfiel than about their work. Your review lacks objectivity but has a lot of venom which leaves me as the reader to wonder just why you even bothered to see the film since you obviously don't like the two men who made it.
A review should be of the film, and not a personal attack of the film's makers. Boo to you!
LOL! See the film, then come back and tell me about it. Be sure and spend $15.00 for DVD and see if it is worth the price... :)
ReplyDeleteI see that you missed my point entirely, and you obviously think that it's funny. As I said, the film might be as bad as you say. If so, that makes it not worth the price, then so be it. My comment was more about your harsh personal attack of the film's makers instead of the film itself.
ReplyDeleteSince you made a public personal attack on Dan Benson and Ryan Pfiel, you must be a very insecure individual. You were rating them personally more than you were rating their film which makes you an asshole.
In researching this film, I didn't find where they claimed to be professional film makers; however, they devoted their time and probably some funds to make the KU film and all you can do is attack them as individuals.
If you don't like the film, that is your right, but badmouthing other people publicly shows your true colors.
