Changing of the Wind

By now everyone has heard or they should have heard by now the term, “OCCUPY WALL STREET”(OWS). But like many people no one quite knows what their goals or demands happen to be for certain. There are many cities across the USA that have encampments. Each night that goes by an encampment of a city park is given eviction notices to vacate the parks after curfew. Where no camping is allowed by use of tents, sleeping bags, blankets. The occupiers are expected to hold their General Assembly (GA) meetings during posted park regulations hours of use of each park the occupiers are occupying at the time.

And there seems to be an on going battle with occupying the parks between the occupiers, the police departments and city officials. Nightly across the USA there is a camp that is being given an eviction notice or face being arrested. The police departments give warnings about vacating or face possible arrest. This has been an on going situation since the movement first began in New York City on September 17th and has spread across the cities in the US. There have been hundreds of arrests in different cities at different times during this (OWS) movement.

"...the Occupy demonstrations are precisely about the concerns of Americans who have been sidelined economically. This in turn is why polls show broad support for Occupy's objectives of greater economic equality and more financial accountability..."
-E.J. Dionne, Seattle Times

Personally I have not had the opportunity to attend or visit an occupy city. However, I have watched the live streams from the many different cities from coast to coast when they broadcast their GA meetings or when a camp is being raided in the wee hours of morning. As most of the raids take place after midnight. After warnings have been given by the police department of that city for occupied space in the parks.

“Their suffering is not unique at a time when the real unemployment rate is greater than 16 percent, but all of them say they have found hope in a movement that has rewritten the national debate and which could upend what many say is a barbaric system.

It is a movement with the unambiguous demand to end the corruption of politics by corporate money – though the demand does not seem apparent to those more interested in reporting on broken windows than broken lives.”

http://occupyusatoday.com/2011/11/21/there-is-tremendous-suffering/

I have been an outsider who has only seen and heard the stories from behind the scenes. Each with their unique story to tell as to why they are involved in the OWS movement. Where a number said the movement “is one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” as one poster discribes it.

What I am trying to do is to educate people about OCCUPY WALL STREET. I feel I am doing my part by writing about it. Hopefully, as I learn more about what is going on I can share that information with people just like you and me.

Who is Jonah Mowry?

Who would take the time to put a video on YouTube and not be real in their feelings about what they have experienced when it comes to being bullied? Jonah Mowry was 13 years old in a dark time and place in his emotional life. Jonah Mowry made the video about four months ago.

YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdkNn3Ei-Lg

The troubling part there is a second video made by Jonah Mowry saying that he was all right and everything was fine now. Like night and day. Where now there was some light out of the darkness that had tormented Jonah Mowry in his not too distant past.

YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt5gvl5s2q4

The problem now is it makes some people feel that his first video was a fake or that he was faking about being gay and being bullied in the first video. When I saw the second video, it made me feel that that video was a fake and not done by the real Jonah Mowry. Apparently it is the real Jonah Mowry trying to let everyone know that he is doing just fine four months later. Chewing gum and making light of the feelings he had four month earlier.

It is good that Jonah Mowry has come to grips with who he is now. And where he has accepted that he is gay and where he has come out to his parents and all of those around him. But when he made the first video it broke many people’s hearts seeing a person in such distress with tears coming down, while he was using flash cards to tell his story in the first video.

Which makes his story heart breaking to have someone so young have to go through what he has had to endure for so long in his short life. At least he can now say, "I'm not going anywhere, because I'm stronger than that. I have a million reasons to be here."

Indeed Jonah Mowry does and we can all be thankful that he failed at his attempts to cut himself so badly to bleed to death but left with scars to prove it by. Or where he did not succeed in committing suicide and we would be reading about another young person taking their life over being bullied or being called names that were hurtful.

Jonah Mowry is now 14 and in a better place in his life. Where he is loved and has many new friends. Where growing up starting in the first grade he was bullied and ridiculed for being who Jonah Mowry really is. Jonah Mowry is a teen who has come to realize and to grips that he is in fact gay.

There are others who will say he is too young to know what his sexuality really is. There are case studies after case studies that say otherwise.

“Proof that discrimination starts at the most basic level: a new study from Yale University shows that gay teens are nearly 40% more likely than their straight peers to be disciplined at school, with girls bearing the brunt of this burden--they are more than three times as likely to be punished as their peers.

Homophobia can't be countered with statistics. Hopefully, studies like this will allow faculty and administrators to step up when they perceive bias, and maybe even encourage people in positions of authority over kids and teens to check their own unconscious bias as well.”

http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/381648/study:_gay_youth_singled_out_for_harsh_discipline/

“Young people are sexual beings and have the right to a happy, healthy sex life. However they are not a homogenous group.

Differences in age, sex, experience, marital status, interests and preferences, family background, income and religion can mean that adolescents can be worlds apart in terms of what they need and want.”

http://www.ippf.org/en/What-we-do/Adolescents/Young+Peoples+Sexuality.htm

It is good to know that Jonah Mowry will now go on to accept himself for who he is. Without worrying about what others think as long as he knows who he is.

Not saying that his life will be a bed of roses but he can at least sleep at night knowing he is who he is and nothing can change that except for Jonah Mowry. Who now knows who he is and like Jonah said, "Every child deserves to be happy...even at school."

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jonah-Mowry/226144490790799

And the FACEBOOK Page Jonah Mowry made by himself.

"Well I guess since a million people are going to make a page about me I should make one for myself!"

Confiscated pillows at Old City Hall in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA— Early this morning with 35 police officers, 25 police cars, three patty wagons and various helicopters overhead where they confronted occupiers that were occupying the old city hall lawn. There were 30 or 40 people on the lawn.

The SACPD were enforcing the no camping ordinance in Sacramento. Three pillows, a sleeping bag and belt were arrested, no joke. Each pillow had its own patty wagon.

In all seriousness SACPD were very accommodating and explained the reason they were there. And that was to enforce the ordinance of no sleeping paraphernalia on the lawn in front of Sacramento Old City Hall.

The officer in charge did an interview with live stream. Then shortly the local news showed up and did an interview where he stated the police department was doing their part to work with the occupiers.

Seven officers, five police cars and one unmarked SUV returned to give a final warning about blocking the sidewalk and having a tent in place. One occupier was singing, “Spending a night at city hall, got no rights at all.”

The reason they were there was another person who had a tent up in place. The call was because of illegal tenting. Where the last warning was given and arrests would take place if there were any more camping on the lawn.

There was another issue that involved homeless people with a child that was inside a parked car, parked in front of the old city hall, which was a private matter. In the mean time two police cars left the scene as they received another call.

And according to an unnamed source CSI units laid off police officers where pulled off duty to man the CSI units.

All of the commotion due to suspected camping on the lawn at Old City Hall in the early morning hours in Sacramento, CA.

Why Protesters are so upset

Tulelake, CA— There comes a time when enough is enough. And people are feed up with the banks and Wall Street making huge profits from a government bail out. While the average person on the street protesting is mad as hell. As an example where a strike was called and unions, teachers' associations and students have expressed support for the strike in Oakland. Indeed, the movement is digging in for the long haul. "We're not going anywhere" as one protester remarked.

“As promised, the Occupy Oakland movement on Wednesday spilled from its home base in front of city hall, halting street traffic and blocking access to banks and businesses that defied its calls for a general strike. The "Day of Mass Action" culminated with a shutdown of the port, where as many as 7,000 people gathered peacefully to stop trucks in their tracks.”

“But most of Wednesday provided further proof of how a small core of activists has managed to build a broader movement with substantial public sympathy — with an energy and a vibe, as well as hazards, that are eclipsing Occupy Wall Street in New York City. Union members, students and teachers were out in force. More than 300 took the day off, while some arrived at the marches after school.”

“The marches rolled on late in the afternoon, from the city center to the country's fourth busiest port. On foot, in wheelchairs and on bicycles (and the odd unicycle), protesters converged under the watch of circling helicopters. Police officers were invisible.”

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,2098628,00.html?hpt=hp_t2

And why are the Occupiers so upset, let’s take a look at the following:

“The corporate tax rate is 35%. But an examination of 280 of the nation's largest corporations suggests that many aren't paying anything close to that."

"The real tax rate paid by a slew of major corporations averages closer to 18.5%, according to a study released Thursday by two liberal tax research groups. The report issued by Citizens for Tax Justice and the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy paints the corporate tax code as wildly inefficient, filled with loopholes and subject to the influence of lobbyists who carve out special provisions for the companies they represent."

"Some companies paid zero. And 30 actually owed less than nothing in income taxes over the three years."

"At the root of the problem is a system of inverted incentives that encourages corporations to lobby for special tax breaks -- and politicians to insert them into the tax code."

"Corporations pay lobbyists. Lobbyists convince lawmakers to add tax breaks. Lawmakers modify the tax code.“

http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/03/news/economy/corporate_taxes/?hpt=hp_t2

Besides Oakland there are many cities across the county up in arms over the unfairness of what is happening with the banks and Wall Street. From the web site “We All Occupy” at https://sites.google.com/site/wealloccupy/

There are hundreds of cities popping up with web sites and live stream links to show their support for OCCUPY WALL STREET. And this is only the beginning of what is to come as time marches on and so to do the Occupy Cities as this protest grows even larger by the day.

All in a days work

All in a days work

Tulelake, CA— EDITORIAL: There comes a time when facebook is not an end to a means. It is rather a way to communicate and get your daily thoughts to be shared with others. Grant you there are going to be disagreements about the topic at hand or the latest picture of that cute baby in its purest form.

Facebook comes with its up and downs as people try to share what is going on in their daily lives that they feel it is so important they want others to know what they are doing hoping someone will notice and make a comment or like the latest picture they have just uploaded.

With FaceBook comes its up and downs. There are people who are there to share the daily journals about how life is treating them. Then there are others who have another thing in mind and that is to educate as many people as they can about the ills of this life and wanting to make a difference even if it means they are one in a crowd of many. To make their mark on what their philosophical points of views are. Not everyone is going to agree with them. So they will lose a few friends off of their friends list because their opinion don’t agree with others.

So what is the first thing they do, they defriend you because they do not agree with your opinion but for every friend that removes you off your list there are friends out there with others waiting in the wings to want to be added to your friends list. All that has been lost is a person who is too childish to accept things as they are not as they should be in their opinion or point of views.

That is their loss as they may have learned something they have now lost by removing you from their friends list. It is their loss not yours and more power to them. If they were not strong enough to deal with other points of view it says more about them, than you. They lose and you win, and thank God they are gone and good riddance as you didn’t need them, they needed you.

Communications is the key and cowards always exit stage Right when the going gets rough and they cannot handle the truth, not only about themselves; but also in society in general. It’s their loss not yours. For every friend you lose, you gain 15 new friends that are more than willing to take their place.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN :)

San Diego Riot Police Clearing Tents

San Diego— Early this morning San Diego Riot Police Clearing Tents in San Diego. The Police began moving in to remove the tents as they backed the occupiers down the street. The San Diego Police Officers moved forward in their advance while being in full riot gear.

It is now just a little after 4 am as this report is being written. The police always attack in the early morning hours so that the lighten conditions are more difficult to get video coverage of the attacks.

Carried live on http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution by those on the scene with the cameras. One video camera man was arrested for taking video and his camera was knocked to the ground. As the camera lied on the ground sound could be heard coming from the camera until one of the officers picked it up and turned it off.

Now we are waiting for another occupier to come on live stream with a different angel by finding a live spot in-order to broadcast on http://www.livestream.com/occupysandiegolivefeed

It is like a war zone, and one of the comments is, “We are not going any where, we are staying right here.” Right footage that was shot early is being rebroadcast of the events earlier. They are video taping the officers badges and names on their shirts. Another comment was made, “You don’t have to attack the American People.” The San Diego Police are moving occupiers past the property line they are pushing them back.

“We are live, we are broadcasting live, and you are being broadcast by New York Live. They think they are in war that’s what is going on, a protested stated. And another is stating, “You are violating my constitutional rights, you are committing a crime.”

As the cameramen asks the officer if he can see his name on his shirt so that it can be broadcast for all to see. The cameraman is video taping the police officers names and badge number for the entire world to see. The SDPD have blocked off all of C Street.

Now they are retreating backwards away from the occupiers as the Police distance themselves from the occupiers. They are doing it in a staggered motion. They are moving fifty feet at a time backwards. The San Diego Police are continuing to move backwards away from the occupiers.

These are peaceful protesters who have no weapons and are being confronted by the SDPD who are in full armor and facemasks with Billy clubs in their hands. Now the cameraman is being arrested as his camera lays on the ground as the sound can be heard until one of the SDPD Officers picks it up and turns it up right and turns if off. “Spread the word, this is a free country, it’s not American” can be heard as the camera goes black as the occupiers can be heard being arrested. End of video feed.

Mayor Jean Quan’s Statement to Occupy Oakland

Oakland— I had hoped to speak directly to you tonight. I was told that I could speak at the Speak Out at 6pm, but that was cancelled. So I apologize for providing these remarks in written form.

I am deeply saddened about the outcome on Tuesday. It was not what anyone hoped for, ultimately it was my responsibility, and I apologize for what happened. Today I visited Scott Olsen and his parents because I was concerned about his recovery. And I hope we will keep the mall in our prayers.

We have started an investigation into the use of force, including tear gas, on Tuesday. I cannot change the past, but I want to work with you to ensure that this remains peaceful moving forward.

When there’s violence, there are no winners – it polarizes us and opens old wounds rather than brings us together, which is the aim of Occupy Wall Street and uniting the 99%.

We are a nation in crisis. Oakland more than most cities faces budget cuts, unemployment and foreclosures. We are also a Progressive city. And as a long-time civil rights activist and union organizer I want my City to support the movement.

Thank you for last night’s peaceful protest. I will continue to order a minimal police presence. I need you to maintain a nonviolent attitude towards people, business owners, and homeowners around City Hall. I hope you will consider starting a dialogue with the small businesses around City Hall that you impact.

We pledge to work with Occupy Oakland and Occupy Wall Street, but we need to ask for four things:

1) We understand that some members of Occupy Oakland want to meet with me and Chief Jordan. We agree. We need to have direct communications between city staff and your representatives.

2) We need you to maintain healthy and safe conditions where you gather.

3) We need our public safety employees to have access when there is an emergency.

4) We are asking you not to camp overnight. Frank Ogawa Plaza is open for free speech activities between 6 am and 10 pm.

We can change America and but we must unite and not divide our city. I hope we can work together.

Mayor of Oakland

WE are the 53%

EDITORIAL: There is now a group who call themselves “We are the 53%”. Erick Erickson, editor-in-chief of the conservative website RedState.com blog called "We are the 53%." It mimics Occupy Wall Street "We are the 99 percent" site.

“The 53% site gives a voice to those who reject the contention that most Americans are victims of the system. "I took jobs I didn't want. Why don't you?" says one poster to the protesters. "Suck it up and become part of the 53%."’

So now there is a group with conservative leanings that want people to join their cause by claiming to be the 53%. ‘"What the 99% is missing is the element of personal responsibility," said Trevino, who is also vice president at the conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation.”

“Today, RedState is the most widely read right of center blog on Capitol Hill, is the most often cited right of center blog in the media, and is widely considered one of the most influential voices of the grassroots on the right.”

In other words they are a conservative group with conservative goals. They in no way represent what Occupy Wall Street does or what Occupy Wall Street is all about. They miss the mark. Yet they want to claim they are the 53%. They are the 53% of conservatism. Where Occupy Wall Street is made up of people from all walks of life.

“Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants.”

Nowhere does the above say anything about belonging to a political party. It does say a “leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions.”

Now for a group to come along and claim they are 53% is not only a falsehood but an out right a lie and a total misrepresentation of what Occupy Wall Street is all about and stands for.

“We are 53%” is nothing more than a falsehood of the worst kind. The only people that belong to their group are those that are of the same mindset and persuasion. They are just another leaf of the Tea Party grassroots on the right. They are nothing more and nothing less than being conservatives. They in no way represent 53% of the people but just maybe 53% of conservatives and that’s about all.

102 occupiers have been arrested at OCCUPY OAKLAND

Oakland— Tonight there are police officers with riot gear and tear gas keeping the occupiers from entering the City Hall Park at Oscar Grant Plaza. They were confronted and so far 102 occupiers have been arrested as to the writing of this report that is being done live.

The live stream has gone off but is expected to resume shortly. Channel 4 in Oakland carried it live for a while on FaceBook link. Then it went off line so now it is just the chat room and live feed as soon as it comes back live.

“This is America. This is not a WAR ZONE and they do this to their own people UNREAL.” “We are the lawful assembly. It is our country. We are the voice of the people.” There is no need for riot gear these are peaceful demonstrations.

As the live stream goes black sounds can still be heard in the background. Men, Women Children and the elderly are being pepper sprayed and tear gassed. Oakland PD is using Sonic Cannons. This is America. “Shame, shame, shame on you.” can be heard by the chats of the occupiers.

Live Chat is still up as people are chatting about the events in Oakland from all over the World. “The World is watching what it happening in Oakland tonight.” Said another occupier. Occupiers are being cited out according to OPD Jail.

The police in Oakland are now using rubber bullets. “What next live bullets and tanks?” another said. Sixteen police agencies attacked OCCUPY OAKLAND tonight.

Live stream is now backup on line. “Oakland teachers say no to police violence” it is on a sign being held by occupiers. “Just because it’s a non-violent protest doesn’t mean you can’t speak what’s on your mind” another occupier stated.

Another yet another chatterd stated, “Oakland- The world is watching, and we stand behind you! Stay strong, and know that you are not alone.”

Yesterday morning the Oakland Police torn down the occupiers camp where the confentation began.

This is a contineing story…

130 occupiers arrested peacefully in Chicago

Chicago— At Grand Park there are around 130 occupiers sitting around in a circle outside of the medical tent as police officers are standing around waiting. It was an hour since the first order to leave came and went.

There are several Police prison buses parked. You cannot be in a public park past 11:00 pm curfew. There are police officers that are on horse back at a distance from the medical tent.

“They can keep on arresting and arresting and arresting.... We Will WIN this thing!!!
They take 10; we come back with 100”, as a chatter stated from the live chat room.

Another chatter from the chat room stated, “Demand 1st Amendment Rights”. There are about 100-150 cops ready to invade... I hope they don't hurt you Chicago stay peaceful.

1. We are the people. 2. We are united. 3. The occupation is not leaving. The CPD is making arrests by breaking the human chain one by one. The first order to leave came at a little after 11:00 pm. The arrests starting just a little past 1:00 am.

There are people lined up and down the street. Where chants can be heard, “shame, shame". As constant drumming and the blowing of horns can be heard from the side walk. There are hundreds out chanting as the protesters are being taken into custody one by one. There are young and older people being arrested in Chicago at Grant Park.

The protesters attitude of celebration, and all the friendly smiling faces as they are being arrested. The police will join us one day and this is how the homeless are treated when they are in the parks after curfew.

There are 2373 people watching the arrests on live stream on http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution as the world is watching. As history of peaceful occupiers have been arrested for OCCUPY CHICAGO.

The occupiers were loaded onto two waiting police buses and two patty wagons. The arrests took just over an hour and half to arrest 130 occupiers. The final outcome the medical tent was taken down and everything else was drug away.

Twenty-two Arrests at Occupy Orlando

Tulelake, CA— In Orlando there were Twenty-two arrested for occupying a park for trespassing.

The police officers stood for over an hour before arrests were made. They waited for backup. The police are telling Occupy Orlando that the party is over; the party is just getting started though. Most just get 'detained' and released without having to pay bail.

Twenty-two arrested at Beth Johnson Park. 80 march to 33rd Street police station downtown in solidarity.

Did you know that in some Orlando, FL parks it’s illegal to feed large groups? It is. And that means that some people who want to feed large groups of homeless people find themselves at odds with the law.

So much so, that some people can be arrested for intentionally breaking it.

Yes they made laws that groups are not allowed to feed the homeless in Orlando it is absurd simply a law. You have to have a permit to feed the homeless.

“For them to regulate a time and place for free speech and to share food, that is unacceptable.”

So they may have to relocate the occupation?

Ten Arrests at Occupy Cleveland

Tulelake, CA— Below is the story about the Ten Arrests at Occupy Cleveland. They wrote about it better than I could have, but I could have if I would have gotten the same information from behind the scenes.

CLEVELAND -- Ten people were arrested at the Occupy Cleveland protest Friday night.

The movement's permits to camp out at Public Square expired at 10 p.m. As the time came the rally grew to a couple hundred people.

Cleveland police arrived in force, and asked protesters to move out of the Public Square parks, and on to the sidewalks. Most protesters cooperated with the police request. Ten people chose to stay in Public Square and they were arrested.

The entire demonstration was peaceful and police did not have to use force.

After the arrests, some protesters marched to the Justice Center.

Then they marched back to Public Square where some tents remained. Those tents will need to be cleared out by 6 a.m. Saturday.

Occupy Cleveland has another rally planned for Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Spiritual beliefs

Comments from Bob

James,

Teri and I have been reading lots of spiritual beliefs and relating to the "Occupy" "movement" wherein the apparent "poor" are protesting the selfishness of the rich. That's basically it.

A spiritual person who believes in a higher power and ascribes to a positive and moral life knows that SHARING is essential for the world to be balanced. Those individuals who have power and wealth have a spiritual duty to share with those that have not.

We wonder how it is that some of the rich keep getting richer at the expense of others but we should understand that even though it appears they have a rich and wonderful life, they most likely suffer emotional and physical problems that they have learned to mask over the years.

Dr. Joseph Murphy (The Power of Your Subconscious Mind) believes we have a "right to be rich". "Money is not evil anymore so than copper, lead, tin, or iron which you may find in the ground. All evil is due to ignorance and misuse of the minds powers."

Being a Christian I have often justified my being poor as also being humble and that "humbleness is next to Godliness". I now no longer see humbleness as also being poor. Humbleness is believing in a higher power and when we focus on the higher power within, everything is good and righteous.

Dr. Murphy's says, "Poverty is a mental disease. There is no virtue in poverty; it is a disease like any other mental disease...The urge of the life principle in you is toward growth, expansion, and the life more abundant. You are not here to live in a hovel, dress in rags, and go hungry. You should be happy, prosperous, and successful."

Just some thoughts,

Bob Scott

Arrests in Sacramento at OCCUPY SACRAMENTO

Tulelake, CA— Tonight there were 9 people arrested in Sacramento October 18, 2011 for sitting in a public park after curfew. So far there have been 54 arrests in Sacrament since the occupation began 13 days ago. Not including the 9 that were arrested tonight.

There were 54 people who decided to stay pass the curfew and were warned to disperse @ 11:24 pm and again at 11:35 pm where nine occupiers decided to stay and were arrested at 11:40 pm. One of them was a history teacher and a person in a power chair. There was another occupier who dressed in a navy uniform to point out he spent time defending the USA and now is being arrested for standing up for his first amendment Free Speech rights by being in a park after curfew.

There are 30 police cars and two-patty wagon to arrest nine occupiers. There were a 100 people watching on the sidewalk during the arrest.

I was monitoring San Diego live stream and live chat http://www.livestream.com/occupysandiegolivefeed when it was posted in the chat room from San Diego that they were arresting people at a public park in Sacramento.

I decided to go the Sacramento Live Stream and Live Chat in Sacramento @ http://www.livestream.com/occupysacto for the story that was taking place live on the Live Stream and Live chat room.

Chanting “When do we need justice, we need it now.” The local media showed up Channel 13 and was doing their story on the arrests in Sacramento at a public park.

There were comments being made about a successful revolution. And now FOX 40 has showed up to do their story. We are the 99% and so are you.

Mass Confusion

TULELAKE, CA— You ever feel sometimes that just when you think you have a handle on something and then something doesn't seem right. You try so hard to do the right thing or at least you think it is the right thing at the time. Then you realize maybe what you have done is not so great after all. Reality Check.

Now it seems I can’t make heads or tails about what OCCUPY WALL STREET is all about. Just what is it? Is it a movement and for what purpose?

"The 99% protesters have tapped into a powerful vein of discontent with Wall Street and the corporate capture of our democracy. Around the country, and countless others are taking to the streets to voice their opposition to a system rigged for corporations and the rich." MoveOn.org

I have spent some time just watching and observing and writing about what I see and hear from behind the scenes. To the point even after all this time I still have no idea what the discontent is all about. Like many others I have been carried away with something I thought was nostalgic but am waiting to understand. I am not saying that the movement is not a good thing. We need change but is this the right change? It seems to be just a bunch of people that just are getting together and camping out to occupy space.

I am not a professional and I will be the first to admit it. I have tried to report on what is going on behind the scenes from a small town in the USA. Don’t get me wrong I still support what they are trying to do. But trying to convey that message into words is not as easy as it may seem. I have got caught up in the moment but the only ones that know what is going on are those on the scene who are camping out and protesting what they believe is the right thing to do. Across the USA there are many encampments but they do not seem to be connected from what I have seen and heard. There is no clear message, no demands except to occupy a piece of ground in a city park and claim it as their own.

Where they are willing to be arrested to prove a point. What point as there doesn’t seem to be one? Sure Wall Street is a major problem as they were bailed out and have made profits doing it. But where does that leave any of us. You hear chants, “We are the 99% but the 99% of what? Sure it is claimed that the 1% need to pay their fair share so that the deficit can be paid down. And if we could bring our troops home that would help too.

We are stuck in two wars that the last administration led us into and now the present administrating is winding it down. There have been over 700s arrests now. But what have those arrest accomplished for the unemployed who are losing everything they have worked for to achieve. They are losing their homes, their cars and their dreams, The American dreams of a better world. Some people have referred to the occupation as Marxism or a bunch of communist people gathered together for one big party. Yet they are depending on a consensus where every one is given the opportunity to speak or share their ideas at each of the occupy cities. But what are their ideas? Those ideas are not being made clear for those of us on the outside looking in.

There are on line live steams and chat rooms to try and get their message out so others will join them in their cause. Spending time listening and seeing their cause before live streaming and live chat room’s claming they are exercising their American right to free speech and the right to assemble. But for what, is this a faze or is it something that will be around for the long haul where they in reality are representing those who are on the firing line so to speak as they are in their camps of occupation.

So what is it and how is it serving its purpose? The only ones that have that answer are those that say they’re representing you and I as they claim as being part of the 99%.

General Assembly Seattle (GA)

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— In the background drums can be heard playing as the Live Stream is being broadcast. It is now 9:54 pm on Sunday October 16, 2011. Waiting for General Assembly Meeting to continue. There is a concern that the tents will be taken down. I am doing my best to get the names of the on line reporters. But it is hard to hear sometimes or get the information when the live streams go on and off line.

The cartoons that are being broadcast about the Federal Reserve are very informative but I have yet to see a complete version of it. Maybe there is a web site that can be put up with all the videos so they can be viewed from anywhere in the world. The same way there is a link for all the live streaming and live chat web sites. Such as OCCUPYUPDATE AT http://www.occupyupdate.org

If the live stream reporters would repeat their names it would make it easier for people like me who are trying to report on blogs such as The Tulelake New Times News Blog at http://www.tulelakenewtimes.blogspot.com where I report on what is going on. Right now I have been spending a great deal of time with OCCUPY SEATTLE but I can only do so much from OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA.

Roughly right now there are 110 tents that are still up. I listen to the Live Streams more than I am able to watch them so that I can write as fast as I can to report on the stories at the OCCUPY CITIES. In other words I type and report on what I am hearing at the same time. I have plans to spend more time at other OCCUPY CITIES, but I am doing the best I can. As a reminder for those people that go to TNT you can post comments on the TNT blog or questions you would like to get information on about the articles that are posted on The Tulelake New Times News Blog http://www.tulelakenewtimes.blogspot.com You can even sign up as a member of TNT News Blog for updates on article posts.

A question was asked why the tents are not being set up at City Hall. It is because City Hall is on a hill and it is hard for disabled people to get there and this is about occupying city parks that belong to all of us. And there should be no curfews on City Parks because taxes are used to pay for them. Which means the 99% pays for them with their tax dollars. That’s why tents are put up at the parks and every time they are removed they are up again the next day.

Thank you Jenny the Live Stream Reporter for this report.

We are the 99% and so are you.

Occupy Redding Group Marches In Front Of City Hall

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— Now Redding CA has started OCCUPY REDDING, CA. They had hundreds of protesters that marched from Redding City Hall to Chase bank.

You can read the story below:

REDDING, Calif. -- The Occupy Wall Street Movement has spread to Redding, where protesters were seen Saturday afternoon marching up and down the streets of Cypress Avenue.

Hundreds of protesters were seen from Redding City Hall to Chase Bank. People said they were there to voice their concerns with corporate greed and economic inequality. Members of the group Occupy Redding expressed their anger about the growing gap between the rich and poor.

Occupy Redding protester Chris Solverd said, “This is a vehicle for those that don't have a voice, have an opportunity for the voiceless and disenfranchised. The 99% are those who produce the goods. We're the important people.”

The people behind the Occupy Redding movement say they just want to be heard, and plan to have more protests in the future.

Feeding the Masses

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— There has been such an out poring of support across the USA with the feeding of the masses in OCCUPY WALL STREET. There is a great story about feeding the Masses on MSNBC that is worth taking the time to read at
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44921688/ns/us_news-life/

The story is about all the support and donations coming in to the kitchen at OWS in New York at Liberty Plaza. Like OWS in New York I am sure that at the OCCUPY CITIES similar donations are taking place for the food kitchens in-order to feed the masses at each of the OCCUPY CITIES.

For a list of the OCCUPY CITES that are on Live Streaming and Live Chat go to OCCUPYUPDATE AT http://www.ocuppyupdate.org for a list of the OCCUPY CITES near you so you can montitor them and find out what is going on at a OCCUPY CITY nearest you and maybe you can help too by donating at that OCCUPY CITY that you would like to support, even if you are in small town USA like me AT OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA member of ONE to DATE.

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA is doing its part to write as many stories from behind the scenes of what is happening at different OCCUPY CITIES from OCCUPYUPDATE. I am only one person trying to make a difference by monitoring the different OCCUPY CITIES and write about them on my blog the blog or email you are reading about now or on FACEBOOK.

For those in TULELAKE who would like to get involved and get on the email list for OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA send an Email: rocks4me@msn.com to get on the email list or call JAMES GARLAND AT 530-667-4744 for more information about OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA.

So many stories to share

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— Across the world and from coast to coast in the USA. There are so many people with their story to share of the hardships they are enduring. Before my eyes there are people on live streams and live chats around the world standing up for you and I. Those of us who cannot be there among them protesting, marching, chanting for a better tomorrow.

This is like a revolution where people are hurting so bad that their only recourse is to stand up and say, “I can’t take it anymore and I am not going to take it anymore.” A movement has begun. Where it will lead one can only guess where it will end up.

People are hurting they are losing their incomes, their homes, their cars and their dreams of a better life, not only for themselves but also for their children’s children. There are millions of people that wish they could be there too. Occupying from one city to another city park to park across the USA there are people standing up for you and I. Most people do not realize how close they are to being homeless themselves. People are living pay check to pay check and are only a pay check away from being homeless themselves.

There are people who have jobs that are putting their lively hood on the line by volunteering to do whatever is needed at the different cities that are being occupied. This movement is not a bunch of homeless people hanging out in a park or one big party. It is about all of us and that is what they are doing for those of us who are at home or live in a small town and cannot be there.

We all have a story to tell similar to those that are representing all of us who are unable to be there. We can do our part by talking to our friends and neighbors and spread the word about people just like you and I who have their stories to tell too. Times are hard and it doesn’t look like there is any light at the end of the tunnel. These brave people are taking our place but I know if it were possible we would be there too.

We are the 99% and so are you.

OCCUPY WALL STREET and Global Revolution Day

OCCUPY TULELAKE— As the chants begin. “Whose Street. Our Street” with sounds of drums and music as they march. Horns can be heard playing as they march down the street. United all things are possible. “Chase got bailed out, we got sold out”. “People united will never be defeated.” These are more of the chants on this march on Wall Street on Saturday October 15,2011. “We are the 99%” and so are you”.

The world is not going to take it anymore. Unemployment, losing homes, where the poor are getting poorer as the 1% gets tax cuts and are not paying their fair share in taxes. It is time they begin to feel the pain the 99% has been feeling. “Show me what democracy looks like, this is what democracy looks like.” “All day, all week occupy Wall Street.” Even more chants on this march today in New York City, Global Revolution Day. The whole world is watching.

While watching the live feed from New York on http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution where a limo could be seen in the distance driving down the street. How ironic is that? The 1% needs to start paying their fair share of taxes so the 99% can live a better life, instead of pay check to pay check all the while prices are going up for food and gas. And wages are going down. What’s up with that? It is time for the 1% pays their fair share. “The people are rising no more compromising.” “How do we fix the deficit, end the war tax the rich.”

On this march today there are Union signs as the unions have joined the march today on Global Revolution Day. I saw UAW signs in the crowds of people that are marching to get the point across we are not going to take it anymore.

There are over 5,000 people marching today in New York City and that is a rough estimate of the size of the protesters demonstrating what democracy looks like. With the march being on West Broadway and Frankly Street in New York City as the chanting continues. “Tax the rich, feed the poor.” “Whose street, our street.” The chanting continues on this march through New York City today to bring home the point the 99% is not going away, if anything the 99% is growing larger by the day. “Tell me what democracy looks like, this is what democracy looks like.” And that’s the point this is what democracy looks like. They are not just protesters they are occupying their cities, not just Wall Street but many cities across the USA today. They are marching in their cities today to show solidarity with one another.

A comment was made, break up the big banks, and end American imperialism. The march is now headed to Times Square as they continue on this march.

I am doing my part from small town USA by writing about what I see and hear. Small town USA is there in each of the larger cities with our hearts and souls. All it takes is a blog and the time spent monitoring each of the cities that can be found at http://www.occupyupdate.org

Even small town USA can do their part as I have demonstrated in this article today.

We are the 99% and so are you.

Transitional day for OCCUPY SEATTLE

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— There are over a 100 people at the General Assembly Meeting in OCCUPY SEATTLE tonight. Where they do Mic Checks and then everyone repeats what the person is saying by chanting their words so that everyone can hear what they have to say. Since there is no electric power for running amps plus it is more than likely not allowed without a permit for sound. They are discussing their concerns and giving updates on what is going on in the General Assembly meeting.

There have been lots of sleeping bags that have been confiscated by the police. On Saturday they need everyone at OCCUPY SEATTLE because it is strength in numbers. This is not just a protest but an occupation across the world to get the word out in many cities about the ills of this world that need to be changed.

We are united in a protest not against the city but a movement for our future. This is not about sleeping in the park but restructuring and starting to get information about the change that needs to come. This is not about holding a sign; it’s about cleaning up after yourself and everyone else. It’s not about the city; it’s not about the mayor it’s about change.

A permit was issued for one large tent for Medical purposes. There was no hot food at the park today and they had to remove tents. They took down the tents and put them up at city hall where there is access to restrooms.

There is a one to one police racial presence right now as I am writing this article. They are going to enforce the new sleeping rule; they are not going to enforce the no trespassing rule. They are going to arrest people that are sleeping or using sleeping bags.

Announcement: Mic check, mic check. “We must vacate so we are going to demonstrate. To form a demonstration and march in protest against being removed from the park. This is what democracy looks like. OCCUPY SEATTLE is marching in protest now.

OCCUPY SEATTLE is chanting, “Show me what democracy looks like, this it what democracy looks like.” All while blowing a whistle and beating on a drum while marching. They are now chanting “They got bailed out, we got sold out.” And now they are chanting, “We are the 99%, you are the 99%.” Now they are chatting, “We got sold out, they got bailed out.”

A comment was made since they are not allowed to sleep in the park they are going to march and protest not being able to sleep in the park. They are now heading uptown to continue the OCCUPY SEATTLE march.

“We are the 99% and so are you.”

OCCUPY SEATTLE

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— the movement is growing stronger by the day. OWS now has a web page called OcuppyUpdate, which is @ http://www.occupyupdate.org/

“Welcome to OccupyUpdate.org. We are dedicated to following the current Occupy Wall St movement as it spreads across the country. Because of the decentralized nature of the movement, facts on a national level can be hard to come by. Below is information that we gather and update as frequently as we can. If you have information to share with OccupyUpdate.org or see something on the site that you believe that may not be factual, please contact us at info@OccupyUpdate.org.”

I am presently in contact with Joshua who is in charge of OCCUPY UPDATE. Joshua just happens to be at OCCUPY SEATTLE. The same live steam and live chat that I am monitoring for this article. According to Joshua, “It's pretty awesome. Spirits are high, passer by's for the most part truly support what is going on.” Joshua went on to say, “I have a web developer who is helping with the development of the site. We should have a new site up by the end of the weekend with full blogging capabilities.”

On the OCCUPY UPDATE there are links to other cities that have live stream and live chat web sites. In other words just like me if you want to see what is going on with cities you are interested in checking out. You can go to the http://www.occupyupdate.org/

I will keep monitoring not only OCCUPY SEATTLE but also other cities across the network as this movement grows where you can be part of as well by joining in and you can even do what I am doing by monitoring the different live stream and live chat web links.

You can start your own blog and post stories the same way I am doing right now. You don’t have to be from a big city to do it. You can be like me from a small town wanting to be where the action is. But there are no cities close to you to be able to go in person. You can still do your part and be supportive from small town USA with your own blog and post your stories to FACEBOOK for you to share from your POV with history in the making from behind the scenes.

OccupyUpdate.org

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— “WHO are we? We are the 99% of Americans who have not benefited from the various financial bailouts, tax breaks, and other subsidies that the dominant 1% of the population have gained over the past several years. We are students, workers, veterans, the unemployed, those on Social Security benefits, and those whose savings and investments were either wiped out or greatly diminished by the economic fluctuations starting in 2007.

We are those who have had our homes foreclosed upon or are about to have it done to us, those whose homes are now worth a fraction of what we paid for them, and those who have never owned a home and don’t expect to ever be able to. We are the newly poor who wonder how everything for which we worked hard vanished so quickly and how we and our families are going to survive. We are the long-time poor, who have never had much of a chance, let alone a voice, to make our own way in our current social and economic system.

We come from all backgrounds, races, and religions. We are concerned about and more than a little scared by the directions in which we see our lives, and the lives of our families, friends neighbors going, the directions in which we see our nation and the whole planet going, and we are angry with those who have taken us in those directions. We are part of a much larger global and national movement that wants real changes in how the world is run. In short, we’re you, and you are one of us. WHAT do we want? We want an end to corporate money’s influence in politics, whether through campaign donations, PACs, or other groups. Money is not speech.

We want truly effective campaign finance reform, so that corporations and other interests have no overwhelming advantage over the rest of us in any part of American politics. We want far greater legal accountability for public officials and corporate executives, and we demand that, if found guilty of committing crimes while in office, they are made to pay for those crimes in full, like anyone else.

We want equal treatment from our justice system at all levels, and at every stage from investigations, through trials and sentencing for everyone, regardless of origins or social class. We want a moratorium on foreclosures, an end to the continual attacks on our social safety net and on the rights for workers to organize themselves and, if need be, to strike to get better pay, benefits, and working conditions.

We want secure and sustainable investments and improvements in our social infrastructure, like schools and libraries, and to create an America where everyone may actually live in a decent and dignified manner, an America where everyone's rights count and are respected by all. This is who we are and what we want. We ask for no more and shall take no less.

We are the 99%, and we will not be silenced.”

Four arrested from OCCUPY SEATTLE

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— Tonight I have also been monitoring OCCUPY SEATTLE at the following live web stream from http://occupystreams.org/item/occupy-seattle

Apparently tonight they were given yet another eviction notice to leave the park. Two people were arrested for having their tents in the park. There were two other arrests of two people arrested at City Hall. One was released and other one is still incarcerated. No charges have been filed against them. One of the arrestees has an appearance in the morning in court. OCCUPY SEATTLE has asked for protesters to attend the court hearing to show support.

The mayor says publicly that he is allowing the protesters to stay. OCCUPY SEATTLE has been offering to talk to the Mayor but he refuses to meet with OCCUPY SEATTLE.

But the mayor is willing to meet with the leaders of OCCUPY SEATTLE. The only problem there are no leaders as this is a leaderless movement. OCCUPY SEATTLE has offered the mayor to meet with the group collective but at this point has refused to do so.

In the meantime it seems everything is ok and they are doing fine for now. Except they cannot put up tents in the park.

I am getting encouragement from being is small town because right now there was a person by the name of Kelly who lives in a small town about 140 miles from Seattle and she runs the local news paper for a town population of 300 people. I live in Tulelake, CA with a population of 1000 and I am doing my part from here. In Kelly’s case she was able to Seattle to join OCCUPY SEATTLE. If and when Klamath Falls starts an OCCUPY KLAMATH FALLS, OR the closest major city 34 miles north of Tulelake, CA.

Over 200 people have been camping out at Bill Gates Microsoft. It has not been confirmed yet.

Occupy San Francisco 11 people were arrested

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— In San Francisco they are putting out a call for more people to show up and be part of OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO at 101 Market Street.

Right now I have just clicked on OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO from http://www.livestream.com/occupyfdsf?utm_source=website-channel-page&utm_medium=related

The live stream just went off and is no longer live streaming but I am watching live streams that were posted and being played on the above link. I will monitor the web site and see what has been going on at OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO.

They are discussing that they have portable potties and are need of batteries. The mayor sent a letter stating that he is supporting OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO because he supports free speech and free assembly. I have no idea as to the date the mayor sent the letter or what day I am watching because that information has not been posted. I am just now monitoring OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO site for the first time. They got their portable potties and shower facilities today in one of their parks. Information is coming from the live chat room.

According to the information I am getting today 11 people were arrested in front of Wells Fargo for blocking Wells Fargo but they have been released and rejoined back at the OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO camp. That was today Oct 12 in San Francisco and the report was on NBC from the information I am getting. More updates as they come in from OCCUPY SAN FRANCISCO.

Occupy Chico Protesters Begin Camping in City Plaza

Please share and get the word out...

There is a news report from KRCR Redding, CA about Chico CA starting OCCUPY CHICO where you can read what has happened there below:

Occupy Chico Protesters Begin Camping in City Plaza

CHICO, Calif. -- The Occupy Chico protesters have begun camping in City Plaza. About a dozen people spent the night in the plaza to show their solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protesters in New York.

Members of Occupy Chico were told by park rangers this morning that camping isn't allowed in city parks.

Protesters say they're willing to work with the city, but they have no plans to end their demonstration.

“We want our democracy back,” said John Brockman. “You can't have so much concentration of wealth in the hands of so few people and have a healthy democracy. That's one of the principals at the core of our action here.”

Brockman says the protesters are hoping to stay in the City Plaza as long as there are protests in New York.

OCCUPY TULELAKE, CA— Since I live in a very small community with a population of 1000 people where camping out in Tulelake would serve no purpose but it goes without saying that a group of supporters could gather in Roper Park from time to time and meet. I am the first member of OCCUPY TULELAKE.

I have not had the time yet today to monitor what has been going on at OWS New York but I do have links that I gathered to share and here they are below:

Day 26 of OWS— a day of chants

Tulelake, Ca— A day in New York City watching the live cam web feed of the chants being spoken. Chants such as “How do we fix the deficit today. End the War Tax the Rich.” “We got sold out, they got bailed out” “WE R the 99%” “In your face @ your house”

OCCUPY WALL STREET had a march that lead to the homes of the billionaires and millionaires on Park Ave and throughout the wealthy neighborhood of New York City. Where OWS stopped at each house on their list of homes. Placing a Large Check in the amount of 5 BILLION DOLLARS and then chanting as they stopped in front of each of the Billionaire and Millionaires homes. The 5 BILLION DOLLARS represent the amount of the cuts the City of New York will lose when the tax cut expires on December 31, 2011.

Seeing history live in front of you on the live cam site as the protesters are marching and chanting while walking down New York’s finest streets. Where there are doormen at some of the doors leading to their residences and at others where the check was placed on their front porch and pictures taken of the Large 5 BILLION DOLLAR Check on their front door.

The tax cuts is the same 5 BILLION DOLLARS in Cuts New York City will have to go without. Which means the loss of teachers, firefighters, police officers being laid off and the list goes on.

http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution

The above web cam link is where you can view OCCUPY WALL STREET and the other OCCUPY CITIES when they are live. Instead of watching the corporate media where you get sound bites of OSW you can actually see if for yourself and experience the history. It is not a perfect system so don’t expect more than they can offer. You can even read the live chat as it goes by.

OCCUPY WALL STREET is doing a great job with what they have to work with. The live feed sometimes goes on and off but its worth the time to watch history happening before your very eyes. And what better way to do it if you cannot be there yourself. And I am with them in spirit and support for this peaceful movement to OCCUPY WALL STREET the same way I hope you are too.

Day 25 of OWS OCCUPY Boston attack

Tulelake, CA— In Boston there was an attack by the Boston Police department making arrests. There are 200 police officers beating Veterans for Peace and arresting them. All taking place in front of the world and those us who are watching it live on http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution web cam site. At 11:35 pm there are over 8000 plus watching Boston live.

There have been over a 100-200 arrested in Boston with high bails being set. The protesters were chanting, “who do you protect, who do you serve”. The police warned them to vacate the park and when the protesters ignored the warnings. The Boston PD started rounding up the protesters where there were some 200 protesters in the park. They arrested Veterans for Peace, a peaceful group of Veterans. And they were shouting, “shame, shame, shame”. The Boston Police then torn up their tents and threw their tents, chairs into waiting garbage trucks. They separated a group of women into an undisclosed area.

There also rumors that OCCUPY Seattle is having their tents torn down. Apparently the mayor has ordered the police to stand down. OCCUPY St Louis checked in for a while on the live feed where they have be given 24-hours to vacate the park. The same with Seattle they have been given a 24-hour notice to vacate.

The live feeds have been going from Boston when it all began to the other live feeds on http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution the web site link. The live feeds are reading what is being posted in the live Mirc chat room that has moderators who do their best to keep out the trolls or any form of political party chat.

It is 1:30 AM now on Tuesday Oct 11th. I am still observing the OWS feeds on http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution web cam site. As the story unfolds in the different cities that are being called OCCUPY in Front of the cities name. One of the names as example is OCCUPY BOSTON for the OWS movement across the USA. There has been support world wide on the link mentioned above.

The live feed has gone back to New York City at the Liberty Square. They are having a march at 1:45 AM is solidarity of OCCUPY BOSTON from New York City OWS. 40 or so people organized a march on short notice in the early morning hours in New York City. They are marching by WALL STREET to make a point that they are not leaving. They are marching then back to camp. The major concern for OWS is the cold weather that soon will be getting colder.

They are marching from Liberty Plaza to Wall Street and then back to camp. They have been told by NYPD they had to stay behind the barricades and keep walking. The estimate of the marchers is at 75 protesters for this march in the wee hours of the early morning. Which is now 5:05 AM ET in New York City. And New York City wanted to let Boston know they were in solidity with them. And so another day starts with the OWS in New York City.

Declaration of the Occupation of New York City

Declaration of the Occupation of New York City THIS DOCUMENT WAS ACCEPTED BY THE NYC GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2011 As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies. As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known. They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage. They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses. They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation. They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization. They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices. They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions. They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right. They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay. They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility. They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance. They have sold our privacy as a commodity. They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press. They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit. They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce. They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them. They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil. They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit. They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit. They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media. They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt. They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad. They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas. They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts. * To the people of the world, We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power. Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone. To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal. Join us and make your voices heard! *These grievances are not all-inclusive.

Bob's post from CNN

Bob

"I am a EU citizen and I live in Germany. Very happily I might add. Some 30-40 years ago, people here in Europe envied the US. The land of the American dream. Made in the USA stood for quality products.

Funny, following the reporting on the Occupy Wall Street protests I have been trying to find a product actually made in the USA. A car? GM sells Chevy´s here. Made in Korea. Ford? From every continent but not the from USA. Chrysler? now owned by the Italians, come from Mexico. OK, let´s try electronics. Apple or Dell, or any other brand, proudly made in China. Home appliances, toys, same story.

OK, I could still buy a Boeing. Too bad, I don´t hold a CPL and my company doesn´t own private jets. We don´t need them. Yes I drive a Mercedes and have a spare BMW in the garage. There are not company cars, I own them and use them for my business trips. We manufacture our products in … Germany. Electronic HVAC controls. And I am the CEO. My work force knows that we will never source out our production to places like China. Simply because we can make a better product with our work force here that is proud of making the best controls in the business. We have a highly motivated and highly productive work force.

As a corporate chief you make a lot of decisions. But if you make them based on shareholders interests you are bound to make the wrong decisions. Corporations live by their customers. Not their banks and shareholders. Let alone governments.

What´s the point in lobbying governments? If I can´t satisfy my customers why on earth should I think any government can?

CEO´s spending millions of dollars lobbying the government instead of spending their company resources on satisfying customers should be fired, yesterday rather than today. Not just in the US, in Europe as well."

History in the making

Tulelake, CA— For those that are unaware there is a movement going on called, “OCCUPY WALL STREET" taking place in New York City and to date in 26 cities across the USA.

I realize Tulelake is not a large city but it has to start somewhere and I decided to do my part by posting information on the TNT Blog for others to spread the word about OWS.

They have live cams of the events taking place in New York City and other cities across the USA. There are no leaders, they do things as a consensus of WE THE PEOPLE.

Where 99% of the people who are out of work and unemployed and being left out by the bailouts that took place with Wall Street and the banking industry. The 1% is not paying their fair share of taxes. It is people like you and me who are paying all the taxes. While those that occupy the top 1% pay little or nothing in income taxes.

This movement started and began on Sept 17 and they are now in day 24 of the peaceful protest. There have been arrests made mostly in New York. 14 people were arrested in Sacramento. There are events in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco and other cities. There are protests from as far away from New York on the west coast of the USA. From Seattle, WA to Portland, OR and cities as mentioned of those in California.

It is my plan now to help to keep people informed as to what is going on. OWS is a peaceful non-violent movement standing up for the 99% of us. From teachers to janitors from all walks of life who are part of the 99% who are losing their houses due to the financial situation we are all up against. With wages going down and prices going up such as groceries and gas.

To get involved and get more information for yourself you can go to http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution and live chat on MRIC. I will do my best to keep people informed on the TNT blog where comments can be posted and questions asked.

If you have access to a blog you can do the same thing I am trying to do by getting the word out about what is happening with OWS. I am doing my part all from a small town in California called Tulelake, CA with a population of 1000 people approximately. So if I can do my part you can do your part by getting the word out the same way I am from my little blog. If you do not have a blog you can get one for yourself and do the same thing.

Every form of communication is being used at the OWS and they are following all the laws of the cities where the movements are taking place. Where like in New York they cannot use microphones. So they are chanting and others in their groups chat to others what is being communicated. They are even using solar batteries for their live cams since there is no way to have access to power supplies. There is another web site where live chat twitter is being used http://www.adbusters.org/campaigns/occupywallstreet

This morning two people were arrested for just using their cameras in New York City and I will write more about that situation as more information becomes available.

Along with other Lava Beds National Monument Forest workers and tour guides explaining about the Lava Beds National Monument and what it has to offer.

The landscape offers outstanding volcanic terrain, and more than 450 lava tube caves, the greatest concentration in North America.”

Fairness to Elected Officials

Tulelake, CA— First on the agenda for the Tulelake City Council were the Job Descriptions for City Hall Administrative and Independent Contractor Finance Director. Where an item on the City Hall Administrative job description was brought to the attention of the council. Council member; Don McCloud pointed out that one of the items was a duplication of the item before it on the City Hall Administrative job description of duties. With the City Attorney not present no further action could be taken.

The city council discussed the issue of the request to have the City Clerk return to preparation of the duties of writing the agendas. However it was pointed out that those duties were taken away when the job duties of the City Clerk were reassigned in the last election. Mayor Randy Darrow mentioned that those duties couldn’t be changed until the next election in all fairness to the elected City Clerk; Joe Cordonier presently elected to that position.

Several suggestions were made but the present City Clerk pointed out there is more to writing the agendas then just typing them up. As the City Clerk mentioned it takes someone with the knowledge and experience to do it. The person in charge of those duties then can question when an agenda item has been worded properly or improperly as the case may be for the meeting agendas to be discussed and posted at City Hall.

The State Controllers Office has fined the City of Tulelake for reports not being filed in a timely manor for the 2009-2010 at the rate of $5,000 for 2009 and $6,000 for 2010. The fines were taken out by Siskiyou County under the state administrated Vehicle License Fees (VLF). Where the city would have received $27,000 but due to the fine of $6,000 FY 2010 only received $21,000 from the (VLF).

Another agenda item brought up by the Director of Public Works; Henry Ebinger was the restarting of the Recycling program. Where the cost involved could be taken care by the recycling program being self-sustaining. This time put in a different location than where it was located before. The Director of Public Works also requested the purchase of valves for ground level water tanks and that two new valves would be needed. The City approved the purchase in the amount of $1000.

A resolution was read about parking on Main Street and Handicap Parking on Main Street. Resolution 2011-06. And apparently the Tulelake Fair Grounds put up a fence on the City access. There was concern by the Chief of Police that people coming to the fair would want to park next to the fence. The Cheif of Police wanted to put up no parking signs on the outside of the fence to detour people from parking next to the fence. So there was discussion about restricted parking on G Street by resolution, with no parking on south side of G Street between Main Street and Park Street. No action was taken.

Layoffs and Furloughs in the near future…

Tulelake, CA— Does anyone really care that the Tulelake City Council approved a request to obtain the services of CPA, Charles Pillion for a maximum of 12 hours at $130.00 an hour to complete the audit statements; except for the outstanding loans. Or where the City had to come up with a $39,000 fee to pay SCORE LIABILITY by first paying $5,000 down with an additional $20,000 leaving a balance of $14,000 to be paid in two payments of $7000 in September and October.

Or now where the City Attorney has presented Job descriptions for a City Hall Administrator and Financial Director with these positions being described as AT WILL positions by the council. Where it was discussed the city no longer has a Financial Director and that the services could be done by removing some of the clerical duties of Kim Kaiser and others by creating a part time Accountant position to do the financial reports and summaries.

It was suggested to go back to an outside accounting firm as the city has done in the past. Some council members were not in favor of the larger financial director type position that was just dissolved. The City Attorney suggested the council seek proposals for the Financial Director position by looking at the possibility of an independent contractor.

Mayor Randy Darrow reminded all present, “that by council, the description means the ENTIRE COUNCIL and not just one or two council members." During the discussion a question came to mind. Who would do the agenda’s? There were many suggestions of how it could be done, but no firm answers to whom that person would be to do the agenda’s in the future.

City staffing during these times has become an issue. A motion was made to continue with Kim Kaiser as administrative assistant until the September 6th meeting. The council went into closed session with the City Attorney to discuss possible litigation about bad dept policy.

After the closed session what mainly took place was information that they will seek direction from Great Northern Lending. There was no comment from staff or council how to proceed and the City Attorney needed to have consultation with council about the policy that she is proposing.

The council discussed Layoff and Furlough Policy- the council stated that there would have to be some positions cut once the audit and budget are complete. City employees are one of the largest budget items and these costs will have to be addressed with the best interest of the city and the fairness to the employees.

Financial Officer Terminated

Tulelake, CA— On August 9, 2010 the Director of Finance Candace Jefferies was terminated under (California Government Code Section 54957 (b) paragraph (2). A Closed Session was held with the following announcement: “Director of Finance Candace Jefferies will be terminated immediately.” Candace Jefferies was to turn in her keys and passwords for accounts at the conclusion of the meeting. She was to be given a two-week severance payout with the understanding she would be available by phone or in person during this two-week transition period.

The question comes to mind was this the right time to be terminating the Director of Finance: Candace Jefferies? Right in the middle of an Audit and outstanding loan balances? Where a Teleconference took place with Dave Wallace for an Audit update for the completion time frame of the loan balances on budget sheets of 2.5 million. Where a number of borrowers are not cooperating with the necessary documents. The audit is 92% complete with clean balances, except for the outstanding loans. The auditor stated that the city financial statement is partially correct and partially questionable. The city attorney and the loan committee are responsible to work out these documents.

A special meeting was held on August 15th, 2010 and requested by the former Director of Finance; Candace Jefferies to the reason/reasons for her termination on August 9, 2010 and to have an open meeting to the public and not a closed council session. The attorney stated that the termination was in accordance with policies and procedures and it is not specific to department heads. Candace Jefferies was an “at will employee” and can be terminated by vote of the City Council. Candace Jefferies requested copies of any correspondence or memo’s that were in her personal file. Where the City Attorney stated that Candace Jefferies was entitled to copies of any and all information in her personnel file. The City Attorney asked if Candace Jefferies wanted a revote and Candace Jefferies responded by stating, “No”.

The next item of discussion was the changing of the lock on City Hall. Councilmember Cordonier inquired as who ok’d the locks be changed, was it put to a bid and what was the cost? Councilmember McCloud stated that HE ordered the locks changed and that he did not bid it nor did HE consult with other city councilmembers. McCloud determined that it was an emergency situation. Once again Councilmember Cordorier stated he did not receive notification or a new key.

Turmoil in Tulelake

Tulelake, CA— In a small community the size of Tulelake you would think this many years in the making. That it would not be in such Turmoil. Even the informed are uniformed as to what is happening. Where certain members of the City Council make up their own rules and regulations as they go along. Where does one begin informing the Community of Tulelake? From discussing what to do about handicap ramps to how past bills are going to be paid.

In other developments with the city where there has been an on going situation regarding the status of the unpaid building inspector invoices and other aspects of Will Baley; building inspector for the city of Tulelake and his services. A motion was made to table this matter until the next regular meeting and to make payments of $500.00 every other week toward the building inspector past invoices that have not been paid.

There is also the use of credit cards where no action has been taken on this matter at the present time. Where credit cards are being used and yet the city of Tulelake is broke. Where training meetings are being attended with one meal provide by the city of Tulelake.

Where are the funds coming from when the City of Tulelake has no funds to cover these expenditures? One wonders just who is paying for them and where are these accounts. How can the City Council authorize the paying of bills, if there are no funds to pay them with? Then there are outstanding loans that have not been paid back to the city in the amount of 1.2 million dollars in question. Back loan payments that have yet to be received by the city. Where a closed-door session was held to have the City Attorney work with the loan committee and give them legal advice.

Where outstanding invoices were authorized for past due bills 10401-10412, ACC Environmental, Bear Technologies and PP and L for the February and March Invoices. Where the 09/10 Fiscal Year Audit has yet to be completed.

One has to ask again where are the funds to pay for all these expenditures? What accounts are they coming out of and is it legal? Stay tuned.

Are you bored in Tulelake?

Tulelake, CA— Why do you complain about being bored? There are many things a person can do without getting into trouble. You can spend time at the library. You can volunteer your time for a local non-profit organization, I am sure they would love to have you.

You can start a teen club and meet and discuss what you would like Tulelake to have that will give you something to do. Like working towards having a Teen Center. You can bring your ideas up at City Council Meetings by getting on the agenda to discuss what your group would like the city to do to help you achieve the goals of having a teen center.

You can have fundraisers: car washes, bake sales, and raffles, etc. You can approach local businesses with your ideas and what your goals are for a teen center. Write letters to people you think might be able to help you with your goals.

Locate a sponsor or a mentor that is willing to help you to get organized as a teen group working toward the goals of having a teen center in Tulelake. Find a place where you can meet like the Tulelake Library or the Family Resource Center.

These are just a few ideas for you to keep from being so bored. The rest is up to you to make a difference. Get organized. Nothing happens over night. What are you waiting for? All it takes is one person, who becomes two, then three and then four and the rest is history...

Ms. Fine disclosed her opinions on what should be modified within the MOU and her concerns with the sustainability of the Library now that Siskiyou County is requesting Tulelake to take control of the operation of the Library. She explained that the Vestal organization has offered to help the libraries pay for the majority of the cost to purchase the self-checkout machines the County is requiring each library to obtain.

One of her suggestions was to ask Modoc County to once again provide some economic support, also discussed were estimated annual operating costs and income from handling of fines, lost/damaged books, room rental and fundraising. The Council suggested Ms. Fine re-word the MOU as discussed and to co-ordinate with the Director of Finance to put together a budget proposal for the Library Operation for the current Fiscal Year and present it to the Council before the end of July."
